Colour identifies a family. Larger, outlined nodes are branch points; smaller dots are language records. Size does not represent population. Spatial distance comes from the layout and does not measure relatedness or geographic distance.
Search a language or Glottocode, or select a node, to highlight its whole family. Its own ancestors and descendants appear more brightly. Drag a node to move it and its connected branches; drag empty space to pan.
Use the zoom buttons or scroll to zoom. Fit restores the whole network. Pause stops the simulation. With the drawing focused, arrow keys pan, + and − zoom, 0 fits, and Space pauses. Reduced motion shows the settled layout without its animated movement.
